My 2019 Book List

One of my biggest goals for 2019 is to read more. Thanks to Apple’s screen time feature, I’ve realized that I waste a horrific amount of time mindlessly scrolling through various apps that leave me feeling distracted at best, and hopelessly inadequate at worst. So, this year I’m making a pointed effort to spend my free time learning more as opposed to looking at bodies that I’ll never have wearing outfits that I’ll never wear.

I was very intentional about each book I chose this year. Each one is either on a topic that I want to learn more about (hi Elon Musk, how does your brain work?), or speaks directly to a practice that I’m trying to implement into my life (minimalism with The Year of Less, waking up earlier with The 5am Club). There are even some that I’ve already read, but were so valuable that they’re worth another run through. My goal is to read one book per month and then summarize my key takeaways here on the blog.

I’m sharing my list for a couple of reasons:

  • Accountability – Now that I’ve told you that I’m going to give you my takeaways each month, I’ve got to do it. And we’ve got to talk about it!
  • Productivity – By publishing this list, I am now solidifying that reading these books take priority over, say, watching hours of Tasty videos on Instagram.
  • Progression – I want 2019 to be better than last year. I want to be better than I was yesterday. This requires changing my actions, which starts by opening up my mind and changing what I fill my head with.

These are probably not the only books that I’ll be reading this year, but this is where I’m starting. I encourage you to save the list and follow along throughout the year so that we can discuss it over on my Instagram page. Use #OHHBookClub to get in on the conversation, or share which books you’ll be reading in 2019!

I recommend trying one of these as an audiobook! It’s a different way to absorb some knowledge but also let’s you “read” while doing necessary things like chores and workouts. It helped me read 5 extra books last year.

  2. Awesome! I downloaded Audible and will definitely purchase a few through there!
